The very unexpected, spontaneous and thus sometimes explosive nature of the articulation and simultaneous perception of an idea (such as Eminem describes as ‘coming once in a lifetime’) brings into question the nature of the aims and purposes that lie behind speech. Intentionality is an assumed correlate of most utterances, an intention to communicate to another person, or to express feelings, thoughts and emotions that are fighting to get out and to be articulated in a form that goes beyond the silence of meditation and into expressed words.
