It’s what moves you from producing 3D work to rendering 3D art. Summary Taking control of your own education, creating a resource library, using software as a tool, and learning to see are the concepts that I’ve learned over the years of teaching myself 3D animation, and which constitute our basic training. In the following chapters, we are going to take a look at creating 3D art with Luxology’s modo 401 software. I’m not going to just talk about pushing buttons or inputting number; instead, I’m going to discuss various topics, which include creating 3D models, UV unwrapping, and linear rendering, to name a few.

Auto-Drop will drop the tool immediately after pressing the left button on the mouse. For instance, the Transform tool doesn’t Auto-Drop by default because you want to reposition the tools’ handles so that the tool stays active. For example, if you want to do a series of consecutive polygon extrudes, you could enable the Auto-Drop for the Extrude tool, which will allow you to perform a new extrude after each left-click of the mouse. Building on that thought, instead of enabling Auto-Drop you could enable Select Through.

Filtering what you want the Input Editor to display. Let’s take a look at the editor together and see if we can find the keyboard shortcuts for the Pie Menus. I’m not sure how the Input Editor filters are set on your system; but to get to the Pie Menus, first change the Edit Mode to Keyboard Shortcuts, since keyboard shortcuts are what we’re interested in. Next, change the View Mode to Commands; this will filter the editor to Commands. Finally, change Commands by Group to Popover Forms. Now you will see the keyboard shortcuts on the left under the Trigger column.
