3 Overview of 3D Model Analysis and Processing 3D models are the fourth type of digital media following audio data, images and video data. Compared to the first three kinds of digital media, the 3D model has its own characteristics: (1) no data sequence; (2) no specific sampling rate; (3) non-unique description; (4) containing both the geometric information and topological information; (5) Both geometry and topology information can be modified easily. Therefore, the analysis and processing techniques for 3D models are very different from those for other media.
